ChargePoint Commends Utah Governor on Bill to Support Electric Vehicle Growth

HB19 removes major barrier to EV charging infrastructure

Campbell, Calif. - Pasquale Romano, CEO of ChargePoint – the largest and most open network of electric vehicle charging stations in the nation – released the following statement regarding the passage of HB 19, which exempts EV charging infrastructure from regulation as a public utility.

"By passing HB19, Utah has become the 14th state to ensure that EV charging is not regulated as a utility. This legislation incentivizes private companies to build a robust network of charging stations to meet the growing demand from Utah’s EV drivers. Laws like HB19 not only encourage more people to choose EVs and provide significant benefits to our environment, but such policies also support job creation and economic growth. We applaud the bill’s sponsors and congratulate Governor Herbert on signing HB19 into law."
