ChargePoint Raises $50 Million to Extend Market Leadership and Drive Electric Vehicles Into the Mainstream

ChargePoint, the world’s largest electric vehicle (EV) charging network made two significant announcements that put it in a strong position to continue driving EVs into the mainstream. It has secured an additional $50 million in a funding round led by Linse Capital, with participation from insiders including Braemar Energy Ventures and Constellation Energy. ChargePoint has now raised over $164 million from leading investors including Rho Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, BMW iVentures and Siemens. ChargePoint Chosen by CEC to Complete West Coast Electric Highway

This week, the California Energy Commission (CEC) proposed to award nearly $4 million to ChargePoint to complete the West Coast Electric Highway, which connects British Columbia to Baja California with fast charging stations for electric vehicles (EV). The CEC awarded a total of $8.8 million in grants to complete California’s portion of the Highway. Read More

ChargePoint Applauds CPUC for Approving Innovative Pilot to Accelerate EV Charging Stations in San Diego

ChargePoint today applauded the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) for its unanimous vote to authorize San Diego Gas & Electric to develop a pilot program to deploy 3,500 electric vehicle charging stations in the San Diego area. This comes on the heels of a separate CPUC decision two weeks ago to approve a ground-breaking proposal from Southern California Edison to deploy 1,500 charging stations across its territory. Reflections on Electric Vehicles at COP21

Electric vehicles (EVs) were a hot topic at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP21, in Paris this December. A parking lot full of COP21 branded Renault-Nissan EVs and bright green charging stations greeted delegates from around the world on their way in to the conference center at Le Bourget. Renault-Nissan’s electric car service allowed conference attendees to book an electric ride from the conference center to select hotels, helping many passionate environmentalists try the climate friendly technology.
