The Leadership Group will be the first demonstration program partner to receive vehicles. Keys to the cars will be handed over to the Leadership Group on Tuesday, June 15 at a 11:15 a.m. press conference. Journalists attending will be invited to take brief drives in the Prius PHV which is capable of running on electricity for approximately 13 miles at speeds up to 62 mph. “Coulomb Technologies played an essential role in facilitating the vehicles acquisition and providing the necessary infrastructure so that SVLG could take part in this program,” said Carl Guardino, CEO and president of the SVLG. “Coulomb’s ChargePoint charging stations are an example of technology innovation and vision that is here in Silicon Valley. We are pleased today to partner and work with Coulomb and Toyota to further highlight the adoption of electric vehicles in the Bay Area.”
A total of 150 PHVs will be delivered to demonstration program partners across the U.S. as part of a global program to demonstrate plug-in hybrid technology, educate and inform the public and capture real-world driving data. A total of 600 Prius PHVs will be deployed around the world, including the 150 in the U.S. Later this summer another 30 of the demonstration program vehicles will be assigned to Silicon Valley groups and companies, including UC Berkeley. As it becomes available, data from the U.S. demonstration programs will be posted on www.toyota.com/esq.
