Campbell, CA July 27, 2010 – Coulomb Technologies today announced plans to significantly expand the ChargePoint® Network through partnership agreements with Leviton, Siemens and Aker Wade. Each of the Coulomb partners will market and distribute their own brand of home and/or public electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) built specifically for the ChargePoint Network. The ChargePoint Network is founded on an open interface, standards-based architecture providing station owners with a complete set of business applications, and providing drivers with EV charging apps to make fueling electric vehicles easy and low cost.
Powered by the ChargePoint Network open interface architecture, Coulomb’s industry partners include:
Using the ChargePoint Network, EV drivers can locate, access and use any of the expected thousands of partners’ charging stations using a smart phone, iPhone or Blackberry App. Station owners can set access pricing via a web enabled user interface, energy providers can manage grid load and billing, and fleet managers can track the charging of their vehicles.
“Coulomb’s partnership expansion brings significant features, benefits and access to the largest installed base of networked charging stations worldwide. Since 2007 Coulomb has made significant technological innovations in the development of the ChargePoint Network,” said Richard Lowenthal. “This announcement is significant because having an open network interface, brings the customers of our partner EVSE manufacturers, regardless of hardware type, the ability to use the ChargePoint Network Operating System which has been serving customers since January of 2009.”
Coulomb's ChargePoint Network, is open to all drivers of plug-in vehicles and provides authentication, management, and real-time control for the networked electric vehicle charging stations. The network of electric vehicle charging stations is accessible to all plug-in drivers by making a toll free call to the 24/7 number on each charging station, or signing up for a ChargePoint Network monthly access plan and obtaining a ChargePoint ChargePass™ smart card.
Coulomb Technologies is the leader in electric vehicle charging systems and application services, with the ChargePoint Network now operating in 14 countries, and Network Operations Centers in the U.S., Germany, and Australia. Coulomb provides a vehicle-charging infrastructure, with an open system driver network: the ChargePoint Network provides multiple web-based portals for Hosts, Fleet managers, Drivers, and Utilities, and ChargePoint Networked Charging Stations ranging in capability from 120 Volt to 240 Volt AC charging and up to 500 Volt DC charging.
