ChargePoint today announced it has joined the Green Parking Council. The Green Parking Council is a not-for-profit organization providing leadership and oversight of the green conversion of parking facilities to sustainable, environmentally responsible assets. As GPC’s newest Bronze Level member ChargePoint will encourage new, alternative parking practices and green conversion of parking facilities for electric vehicles. ChargePoint is the world’s largest network of independently owned charging stations for electric vehicles.


ChargePoint announced the availability of the ChargePoint 4.0 platform for electric vehicle drivers and charging station owners. ChargePoint 4.0 is a free upgrade for all ChargePoint account holders and is now live for all station owners and drivers. For station owners, ChargePoint 4.0 is a groundbreaking release with new features including: patent-pending ChargePoint Connections, support for multi-site deployments, and additional pricing models for charging services. ChargePoint 4.0 optimizes management workflows, allowing station owners to operate more efficiently and with less effort while maintaining tight control over access and management rights.


ChargePoint today announced that leading European charging station manufacturer, Alfen, will showcase its ChargePoint-enabled charging stations for electric vehicles (EV) at the Ecomobiel Show in Rotterdam, October 9 - 10, 2012 (booth G043). Now available throughout Europe, the combined solution delivers significant advantages to EV drivers and charging station owners including billing, real-time station availability as well as control and flexibility for successful, widespread EV charging operations. The partnership with Alfen, who has more than 2800 charging stations installed throughout Europe, allows them to offer customers the option of becoming a part of the largest global EV network in the world.


ChargePoint today announced it has partnered with BMW for its unique, premium electric vehicle (EV) car-sharing service program in San Francisco. ChargePoint®, the largest online global charging network, connects the new charging stations throughout San Francisco, Burlingame, Palo Alto and Oakland. BMW recently announced its DriveNow and ParkNow programs, which provide drivers the opportunity to experience BMW’s first all-electric vehicle, the BMW ActiveE with zero-emission driving. The San Francisco car-sharing and parking space programs are the first of several locations which BMW anticipates activating across North America in the coming months.


In honor of National Plug In Day 2012, ChargePoint today announced it is offering free ChargePoint cards to electric vehicle drivers from Tuesday, September 18 through National Plug In Day Sunday, September 23, 2012. ChargePoint is the largest network of independently owned charging stations in the world, and using a ChargePoint cards allows EV drivers to easily access charging stations, pay any charging fees, start and stop a charging session, and track their energy usage. This year, there will be events in more than 50 cities across the United States. Each event will be led by local plug-in drivers and advocates and will include EV parades, ride-and-drives, electric tailgate parties, press conferences, award ceremonies, informational booths, and more. Plug In America, Sierra Club, and the Electric Auto Association serve as the national team providing support to the events throughout the country. ChargePoint today announced its latest mobile application for all iPhone and Android smart phones. Available for free, the updated ChargePoint app provides electric vehicle drivers direct access to their social network accounts including Facebook and Twitter. Drivers can easily upload check-ins, and comments to Facebook from the more than ten thousand charging spots in the United States. The mobile app continues to provide the ability to locate and check station availability and make reservations for a charging station, detailed station information including pricing and the ability to view your home charging station and its status. ChargePoint provides the industry's first and only mobile app that give drivers real-time charging station status, reservations, smart phone payments, location information and navigation.
