Coulomb Technologies, Inc today announced the expansion of the ChargePoint® Network into the Boston Metro area with more than 150 stations for electric vehicles. The stations are made available to the State through Coulomb’s $37 million ChargePoint America Department of Energy program. The stations will be located in the Boston metropolitan area, primarily within the Route 495 Beltway. Additionally, Coulomb is partnering with BMW for the Boston release of their new ActiveE all-electric vehicle. Drivers of the BMW ActiveE can easily and conveniently fuel their electric vehicle (EV) at any ChargePoint-enabled electric vehicle charging station in the US as well as access ChargePoint Network’s 24/7 driver support and mobile phone applications, which include station location, real-time availability, station reservations, charging status and turn-by-turn navigation.

Coulomb Technologies today announced its open protocol for communicating with Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). The OpenCharge Protocol is a proposed communication standard for charging station networks that defines the communications between a charging network and the charging station. The protocol definition supports applications that include billing, asset management, real-time mapping, EVSE reservations, fleet management, and energy management. The OpenCharge Protocol defines a suite of XML messages and interactions, simplifying the design, development and implementation of network-based EVSE with rich functionality. Coulomb is also offering the OpenCharge Protocol as an international standard for EVSE-to-charging network communication.

Coulomb Technologies’ ChargePoint® Network has expanded into Orange County as today it was announced that electric vehicle (EV) driver services have arrived in downtown Seal Beach, CA. Seal Beach has installed two charging stations for EVs managed by the ChargePoint® Network located in the beach parking lot near Main Street downtown. The stations are the first installation by the City of Seal Beach and will offer EV charging services as part of the ChargePoint Network, providing drivers EV services including real-time charging station status and reservations. The stations are a part of Coulomb’s $37 million ChargePoint America program, which offers thousands of free EV charging stations for public and home charging to individuals and businesses. The charging stations were supplied and installed by Coulomb regional distributor EV Connect.
