Coulomb Technologies Expands ChargePoint Networked Charging Station Family with Higher Capacity, More Installation Labor Efficient Models

Showcased at Plug-in 2011; New Stations Provide Dual Level II Charging Capabilities With and Without Cord Management

CAMPBELL, Calif., July 19, 2011 -- Coulomb Technologies, the leader in electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions today introduced new members to its ChargePoint® Network Charging Station family. The product line now includes dual-port Level II outdoor public charging stations broadening the installation density and cable management options for station owners.  The CT2020 ChargePoint Networked Family of charging stations offers municipalities, corporations, fleets and utilities high-reliability electric vehicle charging with the ability to charge two SAE J1772™ connected vehicles simultaneously.  The stations are designed for residential, commercial and public applications and will be demonstrated at the Plug-In 2011 exhibition in the Coulomb Technologies booth #121, July 18 – 20 in Raleigh, NC.

“With the success of the Nissan LEAF and Chevrolet Volt, the demand for Level II EV charging in public and at workplaces is rising rapidly,” said Pat Romano, president and CEO of Coulomb Technologies.  “We are responding to the sharp rise in demand from our customers by providing more price and installation efficient dual chargers that can provide services for two vehicles in the same footprint that previously was required for one.  We are proud to introduce this new ChargePoint product family that continues our practice of innovation and market leadership.”

The CT2020 family of dual charging stations includes two products, the CT2021 and CT2025.  Both products provide two 7.2 kW (208/240 V @ 30 A) Level II charging ports and are designed for the North American marketplace.  With the CT2025, charging is delivered via two standard SAE J1772™ connectors attached to self-retracting cords.

Other ChargePoint Networked CT2020 family of charging stations features include:

  • Utility Light: The CT2025 product features an energy-efficient, photosensor activated
25W LED light (equivalent to 75W incandescent) providing drivers with the visibility they need to start and stop charging sessions in areas with poor lighting conditions
  • Hassle-Free Cord Management: The CT2025 product features a self-retracting cord management system and eliminates the need for drivers to coil up the SAE J1772™ cord set, ensuring that the cord is always off the ground when not in use.
  • Software Application Service Plans: As with all Coulomb Charging Station products, station owners can set pricing and collect fees, provide 24/7 driver assistance, control access, display advertisements, track usage, and diagnose the station remotely using the growing suite of ChargePoint Network cloud-based service plans.
  • Smart Card Reader: The products provide optional driver billing and custom access control, preventing electricity theft and enhancing safety, with an integrated standards-based RFID reader that accepts ChargePass™ cards and contactless credit cards.
