The federal iZEV Program

The federal iZEV Program provides an incentive of up to $5000 for new battery-electric or longer range plug-in hybrid vehicles (at least 15kWh), and up to $2500 for shorter range plug-in vehicles. To be eligible for the $5,000 incentive a zero-emission car must have a base model MSRP less than $55,000 with higher priced versions up to a max MSRP of $65,000 also eligible. Larger zero-emission vehicles (e.g., SUVs, minivans and pick-up trucks) must have a base model MSRP under $60,000 with higher priced versions up to a max of $70,000 also eligible.

Incentives are limited to one per individual. Businesses and provincial and municipal governments are limited to 10 incentives, but will be ineligible for the tax write-off. Business not taking advantage of the iZEV program will be eligible for a tax write-off for the purchase of both new and used light, medium and heavy duty vehicles.
