ChargePoint Makes Going Electric Even More Compelling with Alexa Integration and New Features

ChargePoint delivers unmatched smart home integration and class-leading charging experience with Amazon Alexa and new mobile app features

Campbell, Calif. (USA) – January 4, 2018 – ChargePoint, the world’s leading electric vehicle (EV) charging network, today announced that ChargePoint Home now offers integration with Amazon Alexa enabling EV drivers to manage home charging using only their voice. To further simplify ownership for EV drivers, new ChargePoint mobile app features help drivers to find charging spots using station photos and get notified when a charging spot opens up.

Offering unmatched smart home integration, ChargePoint Home now empowers drivers to ask Alexa to start and stop charging, find out whether their vehicle is plugged in and see how many miles have been added. Any ChargePoint driver can ask Alexa about their account balance or how much they spent on charging. As ChargePoint Home also works with Nest to report on energy use, EV drivers can now connect charging to multiple parts of the smart home for an even simpler charging experience.

“With the goal of helping to advance the mass adoption of electric mobility, ChargePoint is constantly exploring ways to make charging where EV drivers live, work and play easier and more convenient than ever,” said Colleen Jansen, Chief Marketing Officer at ChargePoint. “Amazon Alexa integration, station photos and the ability to get notified when a spot opens up all make EV charging easier by leveraging technology that fits seamlessly into a driver’s lifestyle. Ultimately, these innovative features make going electric even more compelling and support our mission of getting every driver behind the wheel of an EV.”

New ChargePoint app features make it easier for EV drivers to charge away from home. Drivers can now snap a photo of any public charging station and upload it to the ChargePoint app to help other drivers more easily find the station based on visual context. Photos can be especially useful for locating charging stations in large parking lots or garages. A new “notify me” feature lets drivers get an alert when a busy charging spot opens up nearby, so they can charge in a convenient spot without having to wait. Finally, ChargePoint stations now appear in the Teslarati app, giving Tesla drivers even more choices when searching for a place to charge.

ChargePoint Home, the most intelligent and connected residential EV charger available, works with Nest and Amazon Alexa, and allows drivers to connect to their chargers to local utility rates to recommend the most cost-effective times to charge. With more than 42,000 places to charge across the ChargePoint network, the ChargePoint app makes it easy for EV drivers to find a place to charge, check on charging and track all their charging in one place. In addition to showing ChargePoint stations, the ChargePoint app shows drivers charging spots on several other networks, further empowering drivers to charge and being a resource for all their charging needs.
