Siemens Energy, Inc. and Coulomb Technologies, Inc. Announce Joint Marketing Agreement for an Integrated EV Product Offering in the E-mobility Market

Orlando, Florida, June 15, 2010 – Siemens Energy, Inc. and Coulomb Technologies, Inc. today announced a joint marketing agreement for an integrated electric vehicle product offering in the fast-moving market for e-mobility and state-of-the-art electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) technology, including electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. This agreement will allow Siemens to offer companies, including utilities, electric retailers, municipalities and EV suppliers, the ability to monitor, bill and clear financial transactions for EV infrastructure market participants.

“Siemens is excited to be an early entrant in the EVSE market. We feel Coulomb Technologies’ ChargePoint® Network and industry-leading networked charging stations coupled with Siemens Smart Grid implementation expertise will enable the electric vehicle infrastructure market and accelerate eCar adoption. Electric vehicle infrastructure, within the Smart Grid, is a critical enabling technology that will allow electrical vehicle technology to reach its full potential from both a societal and economic perspective,” says Paul A. Camuti, Siemens Energy, Inc., president, USA Smart Grid Applications.

A series of events has put the Smart Grid market on the cusp of a big boom: the introduction of a number of new power generation sources such as renewable wind and solar power; the need for greater energy efficiency; changes in regulation for CO2 emissions; an emerging market for electric vehicles; and an aging, outdated existing power delivery system. Siemens estimates the global Smart Grid market in the fields in which it is engaged to be $36 billion between 2010 and 2014. Siemens and Coulomb are positioned well to leverage the strengths of both companies to jointly market a comprehensive solution for the EVSE market and provide a platform to customize solutions for customers based upon their unique business needs and models.

Richard Lowenthal, CEO of Coulomb Technologies said, “The relationship between Siemens Energy and Coulomb is highly synergistic. The Siemens Meter Data Management Solutions and the ability to integrate EVSE solutions into the customer’s IT platforms leverages our advanced communication and networking software to deliver a higher level value proposition to our common customer base.”

Siemens understands the complete energy conversion chain and is able to transform today’s grid into a living infrastructure that is smart enough to respond quickly, flexibly and comprehensively to dynamic energy needs. Siemens incorporates solutions for grid automation, commercial and industrial energy efficiency applications, including building automation, IT systems integration, advanced lighting technology and energy efficient appliances for a comprehensive Smart Grid solution. Coulomb’s ChargePoint Network Operating System complements and augments the Siemens offerings by supporting asset management, charging/session events and two-way demand response programs.
