Pine Inn is First Hotel with EV Charging in Carmel-by-the-Sea

ChargePoint stations are free to use for hotel guests

Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif. – The Pine Inn is the first hotel in Carmel-by-the-Sea to offer electric vehicle (EV) charging to guests. The stations are manufactured by ChargePoint and will run on the ChargePoint network– the largest and most open EV charging network with over 18,000 charging locations. The two charging ports are a free service provided to guests who can reserve charging time through the hotel.

“Offering EV charging is a powerful tool to attract guests giving us a competitive advantage over other local hotels,” said John Lloyd, General Manager with the Pine Inn. “With ChargePoint, we are able to offer this added amenity free of service to our guests to become a preferred hotel for EV drivers visiting the area all while helping keep our air free of greenhouse gas emissions.”

“Now California EV drivers hoping to get away for the weekend will be able to visit Carmel-by-the-Sea and plug in for free while staying at the Pine Inn,” said Dimitrios Papadogonas, VP of Marketing with ChargePoint. “Not only will these charging stations encourage EV drivers to stay at the Pine Inn, they will also increase tourism for the city and local businesses.”

With ChargePoint, EV drivers can reserve charging times and track the charging status of their vehicle. To start a session, drivers can use the ChargePoint mobile app, their ChargePoint membership card or by calling the 1-800 number listed on the station. ChargePoint’s real-time data is available through the mobile app, the ChargePoint website and in the navigation unit of many popular EVs giving drivers the ability to find and navigate to stations.
