How do I access my complimentary charging from Toyota?

To claim your charging credit (up to $100 in the first 100 days) for your new 2017 Prius Prime, just follow these easy steps:

  1. Download the ChargePoint mobile app or go to toyota.chargepoint.com/register
  2. Create a ChargePoint account
  3. In the Add Payment Screen, choose “I have a promo code”
  4. In the Promo Code screen, enter your 2017 Prius Prime vehicle identification number (VIN)

I’m already a ChargePoint member and I just bought or leased a new 2017 Prius Prime. How can I register for this offer?

  1. Log in to your ChargePoint account
  2. Go to your Account details
  3. In the Promo Code section, enter your Prius Prime vehicle identification number (VIN)

When does the complimentary charging begin?

Your complimentary charging begins when you enter your unique promo code in your account or 30 days after you receive delivery of your 2017 Prius Prime, whichever comes first. You must enter your promo code within 30 days of buying your 2017 Prius Prime to take advantage of the full 100 days of complimentary charging.


What happens if I enter my promo code more than 30 days after delivery of my 2017 Prius Prime?

If you enter your promo code more than 30 days after you have received delivery of your 2017 Prius Prime, the number of days of complimentary charging will be pro-rated by the number of days after 30 that you register, though the maximum amount you can charge will always remain capped at $100. For example, if you register on the 35th day of ownership, you’ll have up to 95 days of complimentary charging, or up to $100 of complimentary charging (whichever comes first).


Where can I access complimentary charging for my 2017 Prius Prime?

Complimentary charging is available for 2017 Prius Prime owners to use (for the first 100 days or up to $100) at all public Level 2 ChargePoint charging stations, as well as private Level 2 ChargePoint charging stations to which you have been granted access through ChargePoint connections. Any Level 2 charging station on the ChargePoint network that you can see in the ChargePoint mobile app should be available to you for complimentary charging. You should be aware that, as a convenience to its drivers, ChargePoint displays Level 2 charging stations that are not on the ChargePoint network on its mobile app. Unfortunately, you can’t use your charging credit at any of those stations. The Prius Prime is not currently equipped with DC fast charging, so you won’t be able to charge your Prius Prime at DC fast charging stations.


Where is this offer available?

This offer is available to new 2017 Prius Prime drivers in all of the continental United States (including Alaska, but excluding Hawaii, Puerto Rico and/or the U.S. Virgin Islands). This offer is not available outside of the United States at this time.


How do I know how much complimentary charging I have left?

Check your “Toyota Balance” in your ChargePoint mobile app or on the ChargePoint driver portal under “My Account.” If you already have a ChargePoint account with a balance, your “Toyota Balance” will be tracked separately. Remember, your Toyota Balance only tells you how much of the $100 complimentary charging limit you have left on your 2017 Prius Prime. Your Toyota Balance is non-refundable, has no cash value, and expires at the end of the complimentary charging period (except where prohibited).


What happens when I run out of complimentary charging?

After 100 days or $100 in charging, you’ll need to enter a payment source to access charging stations that have a fee. ChargePoint operates on a credit system, so the first time you use a paid station, ChargePoint will charge you $25 and enter that amount as a balance on your account. Every time your balance goes below $10, ChargePoint will add $25 using the payment source on file. If you charge often, ChargePoint will add your average total for three months of charging instead of $25. If you only use free stations, your credit card will never be charged. In the event you choose to close your account, ChargePoint will refund the remainder of your ChargePoint balance back to you. To add or update your payment information, go to the Financial Information section under My Account or My Profile in the ChargePoint app. If you don’t want to enter payment information, you can keep using your ChargePoint card or the mobile app to access free stations only.


Do I need to enter a credit card to take advantage of the complimentary charging from Toyota?

You don’t need to enter a payment source if you enter your promo code when setting up your ChargePoint account, but doing so will let you keep charging at any station after your complimentary charging is complete. When the promotion is over, you’ll be able to keep using free stations on the ChargePoint network even if you don’t enter a payment source.


Can I cash out funds left on my Toyota balance after 100 days?

No. This promotional offer has no cash value. After 100 days, any remaining balance on your account will expire.


How can I maximize my complimentary charging?

Look for ChargePoint EV charging stations near you using the ChargePoint mobile app. Use the filter to find free stations when possible so your Toyota Balance lasts even longer within your 100 days.


What vehicles are eligible for this program?

Complimentary charging is available only for new purchases or leases of the 2017 Prius Prime. Pre-owned 2017 Prius Primes are not eligible for this offer.


How much will it cost to charge my 2017 Prius Prime?

You may use your Toyota complimentary charging to charge for free for a period of up to 100 days, up to a maximum amount of $100. After that, charging fees will vary because stations on the ChargePoint network are independently owned and station managers set their own fees. Many stations are completely free to use. You can see the price to use a specific station by logging into the ChargePoint mobile app or online map by clicking the station pin and checking the station details page. The price also scrolls across each charging station's display. Prices can change at any time without notice, so be sure to check the station display every time you charge. If the price is going to change in the middle of a charging session, ChargePoint will send you a notification.


How long will it take to charge 2017 Prius Prime?

When using a Level 2 (240V) charging station in public or at home, Prius Prime will fully charge from empty in approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes. It’s smart to top up whenever charging is available, even if your battery isn’t empty, so you always have maximum electric range. You can use the ChargePoint mobile app to find a public charging station near you.


I just purchased or leased a 2017 Prius Prime, but I didn’t get a ChargePoint card. How can I get one?

No problem. You can still create an account at toyota.chargepoint.com/register and request that a card be mailed to you for free in 7 to 10 business days. You can also call ChargePoint’s EV Driver support line, which is available 24/7 at 1-888-758-4389, and let them know you’re a new 2017 Prius Prime owner who needs a driver kit. Note that complimentary charging is only available for the 2017 Prius Prime.


I have a 2017 Prius Prime and I lost my Prius Prime ChargePoint card. How can I get a new one?

First, make sure you have claimed your complimentary charging by setting up your account and entering your 2017 Prius Prime VIN number in the Promo Code field. Then, order a new card in the ChargePoint mobile app or by logging into your account at chargepoint.com, going to My Account and choosing Manage ChargePoint Cards. ChargePoint’s EV Driver support can also help you order a card over the phone. It can take 7 to 10 business days to receive your card in the mail. In the meantime, you can continue to access ChargePoint stations with your mobile app or by calling the support number printed on every station (1-888-758-4389).


I’m having trouble activating my ChargePoint card. What should I do?

Why should I download the ChargePoint app?

The ChargePoint app is free to download and the best way to find convenient charging stations. You can filter for stations based on real time availability, price (many of charging stations on the ChargePoint network are free to use), and charging speed (Prius Prime drivers should look for Level 2 public chargers). The ChargePoint mobile app also allows you to start your charging session without an RFID card, check your charging status and view your charging history.
