How do I plan a trip using Route Planning in the ChargePoint app?

Route Planning builds a charging-aware route between two points and suggests stations along the way based on your EV's range, current state of charge and your target end-of-trip SoC. It supports both a basic flow (you provide start, end and SoC) and an advanced flow (vehicle linking, custom SoC slider, multi-stop editing, etc).
To set up Route Planning, complete the following steps:
- Open the ChargePoint app and tap the Route Planning icon.
- Route Planning
- Enter the Start address (defaults to your current location if location permission is granted).
- Enter the Destination (address, business name or pinned location).
- The app calculates the route and shows the path from source to destination. To see charging stops on the way, switch to Advanced Route Planning.
- Tap Start Trip to begin in-app turn-by-turn navigation.
- Advanced Route Planning:
- Advanced Route Planning is available for select users only and may not appear in your account.
- For more control, the advanced flow gives you full visibility and editing over the SoC values, vehicle profile and charging stop selection.
- Link your vehicle for live data: If your EV is connected via OEM credentials, Start SoC is pre-filled from the live vehicle reading. Remaining range updates as you drive. For more information, see How can I add my EV using my OEM account credentials?
- Manual SoC slider:
- If your EV is not linked or if the Start SoC is inaccurate, use the Start SoC slider to enter your current battery percentage manually.
- Use the End-of-Trip SoC slider to set how charged you want to be when you arrive. For example, 20% buffer for a same-day return drive and 80% if you are stopping for the night and want to top up.
- Charging Stops:
- The route shows charging stops on the way, the expected time that you can spend at each stop, total number of stations and the battery's SOC that you can charge.
- Tap any suggested stop to view amenities near the station.
Tips:
- Top up before you leave so you have flexibility in the first leg.
- Set a comfortable End-of-Trip SoC (20-30% is reasonable for most drivers) and the planner will pick fewer stops if you are willing to arrive lower.
- If you are towing or going through cold weather, lower your effective range manually (the planner does not auto-detect environmental factors).
