How do I change my ChargePoint account password?

The new ChargePoint app lets you change your password from inside your account and confirms the change with a one-time passcode (OTP) for added security.

Follow the instructions below:

  • Log in to the ChargePoint app and navigate to Account > Profile.
  • Tap Change Password.
  • Enter your current password.
  • Enter your new password. Passwords must meet the strength requirements shown in the form.
  • The app sends a one-time passcode (OTP) to the email and or phone number on file.
  • Enter the OTP to confirm the change.
  • You will see a confirmation that your password has been updated. You will stay signed in on the current device.

If you have forgotten your current password:

  • From the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password?.
  • Enter the email on your account.
  • Check your inbox for a password reset link.
  • Follow the link to set a new password, then return to the app to sign in.

After changing your password, you remain signed in on the device where you made the change. Other devices where you are signed in (other phones, web portal) may prompt you to re-authenticate the next time you open the app.

Note: If you have Tap to Charge or stored payment methods, they are unaffected by a password change.

Troubleshooting:

  • If the OTP does not arrive, check the spam/promotions folders and confirm if the email on file under Account > Profile is correct.
  • If the OTP screen will not accept your code, request a new one (codes expire after a few minutes).
  • If you reset via the email link and the app keeps returning you to the reset page after sign-in, fully close and reopen the app; this resolves a recent known issue.

Security tips:

  • Use a unique password; one that is not shared with other accounts.
  • Turn on biometric unlock (Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint) under Account > Profile > Security to avoid retyping the password.
  • Update your password if you suspect a compromise or after sharing access with anyone temporarily.
