How do I find charging stations with the ChargePoint app?

Finding charging stations in the new ChargePoint Driver App is faster than before. The map now uses station pins (one pin per location), sites (chargers from the same owner grouped together), a site card that previews key info, and a refreshed search experience with amenities, recent searches and in-app navigation.

To find charging stations, complete the following steps:

Open the ChargePoint Driver App and sign in. The map opens to your current location.
Browse the map to find a suitable charging station for your needs.
At a broad, zoomed out scale, you can see black circles representing the total number of ports available at that location. Zoom in to see site pins (green or black) that represents a site (one location), with badges showing the charging station's speed. Green pins represent available chargers while black pins indicate unavailable, in-use or unknown chargers. If you zoom in further, you will see green, blue and gray station pins to indicate their current status.

Tip: Stations are represented by colored pins and badges as explained below:
- Circled numbers (blobs): Indicates the total number of charging ports in an area. Colors show status breakdown. Tap a circle to zoom in.
- Green: Charging spot is available
- Blue: Charging spot is in use
- Gray: Charging spot is out of service or closed; status unknown
- One bolt: Slow charging (Level 2)
- Two Bolts: Medium charging (Medium DC)
- Three Bolts: Fast charging (DC Fast)
Use Quick Filters such as Available, Fast, My EV, Free, Open Now or tap the Filter icon to open Advanced Filters such as price, networks, connector type, amenities, status etc to narrow down your search.
Tap any site pin to open the site card. The card previews the following key information: Name, Distance, Speed, Connector types, Real-time availability and any badges associated (NACS, Omni Port, Free, Restricted, Connected).
Tap the site card to open the full site page. You can access the following tabs:
- Stations: Individual port details, connector type, status, pricing and the option to Start Charge.
- Amenities: Food, Restrooms, Lodging, Shopping nearby, with custom amenity pins.
- Details: Site owner, Hours, Parking, Accessibility.
From the site page, tap In-app Navigation to start turn-by-turn directions, or use Get Directions to launch your default maps app.
At the station pin level, tap on a pin to see the station card. Tap on the card to see station details, select a port, and tap Start Charge to start charging your EV.
Other ways to find stations:
- Search bar: Type an address, name of a city, points of interest or business etc. Recently searched locations appear instantly under the bar.
- Amenities: Tap an amenity category (food, coffee, restrooms, shopping) to see sites near matching businesses, each with a custom pin and the amenity name on tap.
- Pseudo sites: Chargers owned by the same organization at one location are grouped into a single pin to reduce clutter.
